To commemorative the Legendary Piatigorsky Cup Chess tournaments of 1963 and 1966, which at the time were the strongest tournaments held in the United States and included such participants as World Champion Tigran Petrosian and future World Champions Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky.Ā
The House of Staunton is proud to offer the Piatagorsky Cup Series Chess Pieces. It features a 4.5" King with a 1.8" diameter base. The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and are the first set we've ever produced that features a GorgeousĀ distressed Mahogany patina, designed to have the look and feel of one of the actual Piatagorsky Cup sets. These chessmen are heavily weighted and feature billiard cloth base pads under the pieces.
